Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Junior Reissue, Ultra Heavy Aged, TV Yellow

Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Junior Reissue, Ultra Heavy Aged, TV Yellow

A faster, easier-playing Junior

Gibson Custom is the pinnacle of craftsmanship, quality, and sound excellence. Each instrument celebrates the Gibson legacy through accuracy, authenticity, and attention to detail.

The Les Paul™ Junior was first introduced in 1954 during Gibson’s first Golden Era and revised in 1958 to feature double cutaways and improved fretboard access. However, it really hit its stride in 1960, when a repositioned neck pickup and slimmer neck taper made it sturdier and easier to play than ever. While it was initially designed as an affordable, high-quality, solidbody electric guitar option suitable for students and beginners, it didn’t take long for professional musicians to discover the magic of this erstwhile “student model” and use it on recordings and stages around the world. The appeal? The Les Paul Junior’s outward simplicity disguises the wealth of tonal options available from the single pickup, volume control, and tone control; by varying where you place the picking hand, as well as the settings on the master volume and tone knobs, you can coax a huge range of different sounds out of a Junior.

The luthiers and craftspeople of the Gibson Custom Shop have proudly replicated the originals in intricate detail with this 1960 Les Paul Junior Reissue. It is a complete structural and visual clone of the coveted vintage counterparts, from the one-piece slab mahogany double-cutaway body to the long tenon, hide-glue-fit solid mahogany neck with a 1960s SlimTaper™ profile, rosewood fretboard with 22 authentic medium jumbo frets and celluloid dot inlays, Kluson® three-on-a-plate white-button tuners, and wraparound bridge/tailpiece. However, the real magic is in the identical sound and playability. A mean, fiery Gibson Custom Dogear P-90 pickup, paired with CTS® 500k audio taper volume and tone potentiometers and wired to a paper-in-oil tone capacitor, creates tones ranging from sparkling cleans to crunchy distortion. Anything you throw at it, this Les Paul Junior can handle! It features Ultra Heavy Aging by the skilled artisans of the Murphy Lab. The Murphy Lab Ultra Heavy Aged finish treatment, paired with heavily aged hardware, simulates decades of heavy playing wear, giving it the unique character, vibe, and feel of an original example from the Gibson Golden Era. A Gibson Custom hardshell case is also included for safe storage and transport.
